Forrest Gump (1994)
Forrest Gump is a young boy who was extremely slow, but was raised to be a good person. Throughout his childhood he struggled with his learning disabilities but took on a best friend by the name of Jenny. Forrest Gump’s mother taught Forrest the ways of the world until it was time for Forrest to choose his destiny. Forrest then joined the army and was sent to Vietnam where he met two friends, Lt. Dan and Bubba. After being released from the army due to a wound in the line of fire, and winning many medals, Forrest Gump was around for many significant events in history and accomplished a great many things in his life.
This movie is supposed to be a drama, but I thought it was absolutely hilarious. From start to finish Forrest Gump kept me captivated by the great story line, while also surprising me with humor. Tom Hanks was the perfect actor for this role and did a great job. One of the funniest parts of the movie takes place at the White House. Forrest gets to meet the president and drank thirteen Dr. Peppers. When it was his turn to meet the president, he asked to use the bathroom first! After using the bathroom, he wound up mooning the president to show him where he had gotten “shot in the but-tox” because he didn’t know better that the president was being sarcastic! That is just too funny to me. I seriously laughed for like 15 minutes. It’s a bit long, but it is definitely worthwhile to see.
