Smack Destiny in the Face!

HotRod (2007)

Self proclaimed stuntman Rod Kimble has to raise $50,000 to save his dying stepfather. In order to do so decided to raise money by doing a record breaking jump- clearing fifteen buses on his dirt bike.

The opening scene of this movie is what got me hooked. When Rod tried to jump a trailer without the takeoff ramp reinforced, he not only epically failed the jump, but also had one of the craziest, funniest crashes I have ever seen. The crash had concussion written all over it, but his reaction was simply priceless. Danny McBride and Andy Samberg are hilarious actors who took their roles and truly ran with them. “I go to church every Sunday, are you going to bring the demons out of me?” was my favorite quote from the movie that was said by Danny McBride.

Stop Being a Dinosaur and Grow the **** Up!!!!

StepBrothers (2008)

When two single parents fall in love at a business conference, they didn’t realize exactly what would happen when their sons, both forty years of age, had to be stepbrothers. Not only did they have to live under the same roof, but they had to share a bedroom! The parents realized that their two sons would be living off of their money for the rest of their lives, while also bickering and seriously fighting each other (with bicycles and the like). In this coming of age tale, the two go their separate ways until they realized that they had to work together at the Catalina Wine Mixer in which they both became successful in their own respective fields.

In the beginning, you have Will Ferrell, who has somewhat been type-casted for his style of humor, in what seems to be a typical role. Will Ferrell was soooo funny I couldn’t stop laughing. The person who really stole this movie, however, was John C. Reilly, who played the “stepbrother” of Will Ferrell in the movie. John C. Reilly was even funnier than Will Ferrell, so with great chemistry, good writing, and great humor, this added up to one of the funniest movies in the last few years!

Knocked Up -- This can happen to you, but it won't be as funny.

Knocked Up ( 2007)

When an unemployed party guy meets a newly promoted E! Entertainment News reporter at a hot night club they hit it off and have a one night stand. Taking the most literal sense of the phrase “just do it already,” he had unprotected sex in a one night stand. Three months later he gets an e-mail from the girl and thinks that she wants another go-round. When they go out to dinner he soon realizes that he has a long road ahead of him. In this coming of age tail, Ben Stone, the party animal learns what it takes to truly become a mature adult, as well as a good father.

This movie to me was a little scary at first because if you don’t use protection, this can easily happen to you. The cast is relatively new, but is composed of a young team of up and coming comedians who are also best friends. The chemistry between this crew is amazing. If they weren’t such close friends the multiple “one-liners” wouldn’t be as funny affecting the movie overall. This movie was a major blockbuster hit in 2007 and still continues to make me laugh each and every time I see it because I always tend to notice something new that makes me laugh out loud.
